The 75th Anniversary Celebration of Science & Society journal.

Published quarterly since 1936, Science & Society is the longest continuously-published journal of Marxist scholarship, in any language, in the world. As the capitalist economic and social crisis deepens across the globe, it is important to celebrate our victories and achievements.

The keynote speaker is Dr. Gerald Horne, a long-time member of Science & Society's Editorial Board. Many recent authors, from several continents, were present, and were introduced and honored for their contributions. Music and gastronomy rounded out this very special event.

Gerald Horne, Moores Professor of History & African-American Studies at the University of Houston, has published 30 books, including most recently,  Fighting in Paradise:  Labor Unions, Racism & Communists in the Making of Modern Hawai'i (University of Hawai'i Press, 2011). As an attorney, he served as Counsel to Local 1199 of the Hospital Workers Union in New York City and as Executive Director of the National Conference of Black Lawyers: in that latter capacity he became a mediator of the civil war in the Sudan.  In 1992, while serving as Chairman of the Peace of Freedom Party in California, he garnered over 305,000 votes in a race for the U.S. Senate in that state.
