NEUES KABARETT
with Ken Filiano, Roger Mancuso & Richard Tabnik
Quartets and Duets: original works, free improvisation and some favorite standards. Featuring Crothers on piano with Richard Tabnik on alto saxophone, Ken Filiano on bass and Roger Mancuso on drums.
Connie Crothers, who studied with Lennie Tristano, was chosen in the January 2000 issue of Cadence Magazine for inclusion in the selection of the most important and influential musicians in the last 25 years. Cadence said, "The Connie Crothers Quartet... is in brilliant, driving form as they generate explosive contemporary bop... "Ontology" sustains the most exhilarating and inventive hard bop I have heard in many years and I imagine that to catch this band on a good night must be awesome!" She has performed or recorded with Max Roach, Bud Tristano, Jemeel Moondoc, Bob Field, Harry Schulz, Dan Rose, and many others. In 2001, she was awarded Honorary Jazz Master at Harvard University. Crothers teaches improvisation in her studio in Brooklyn, NY.
